How to be self disciplined- 3 Strategies to have more discipline

Having discipline in our life is very important, since this virtue will allow us to approach the goals we set ourselves; However, having the commitment to perform the most important tasks is sometimes not easy; We can say that we are going to do something but then when it is time to do it, we do not have the will and we invent any excuses to justify not doing it.
Why have we not worked on what we once said we were going to do? This is something that has happened to all of us at some point in our lives; However, in recent months I have used some strategies that have allowed me to be more disciplined and have more consistency. These strategies have worked for me very well and hopefully you can also apply them in your life.
The Calendar Method: This method is widely used by the Japanese and consists of taking a calendar, assigning tasks based on their level of difficulty or if you like, you can assign it according to the desire you feel for performing this task. If you have to do a job and it can be divided into parts, you can put the easiest to do or the ones you feel most comfortable doing first. In this way, when you have advanced a little, you will feel more encouraged to finish.
Try to avoid as much as possible to spend two days in a row without performing any of the activities. The mere fact of seeing this calendar every day, will allow you to have the determination to repeat these activities and acquire more consistency in your work. Before using this method I only managed to have consistency in working on my simplest projects and I left the most complicated ones there without starting, because just seeing how difficult they were, I never felt the courage to start them. However, once I started documenting the activities on the calendar, it has made it much easier for me to have discipline.
2. Have an important reason to do so. This idea can be applied to both business and life itself. If you are not sure why you do what you do, you cannot have the discipline to achieve your goals. That is why, to establish a reason why it is so inspiring that you enter into the need to work daily to achieve it.
It is not the same to say… I want to have money because that would be nice, that to say, I want to have money to improve my financial situation, travel the world, acquire peace of mind, stability and security.
Whatever your reason is, make sure it inspires you and allows you to get up every day in order to get it. If you have a very powerful why, you will have no problem setting your priorities. For example, if you want to have a successful business, if you have visualized it in your mind and hope to achieve it, no matter what it costs, you will not have problems to avoid all activities that move you away from what you consider important.
So, if you have to decide between wasting your time chatting on your cell phone or working on your projects, it will not be difficult for you to make a correct decision if you have a powerful vision in your mind of what you want to achieve. The reason why we often fall into indiscipline and postpone things is precisely because we have no clarity in what we want.
3. Avoid becoming obsessed to the point of being a person who is extremely motivated, wants to work more hours than necessary and generally wants to put more effort than others to excel more quickly. Surely you will wonder ... but why should I avoid such a mentality? Would this not allow me to achieve the objectives more quickly? And the answer to this is, probably not.
The reason why this happens is because this pace of work is very difficult to sustain over time. What can happen here is that you start with a lot of encouragement, progress more than the average person during the first months, but in the end, taking such a demanding pace, you will end up exhausted, and in the end, you will not achieve your goals.
For example, work more than 12 hours a day or go to the gym three hours a day without resting any day. Do you think you can sustain this rhythm for 1 month, without compromising your health and without feeling exhausted? For sure, there will be people who can get it, but this is not the case for most of us. That is why we must establish a rhythm that we can sustain, since consistency will always be the most important thing.
Many times society makes us adopt the belief that to achieve the results we have to work hard all the time, but this is not true. On many occasions, you will see that it is necessary to set breaks and go at a slower pace, which allows you to find better ideas or greater progress. Personally, I think avoiding obsession has been one of the keys that have allowed me to work with discipline. I have realized that pausing is key to finding new ideas.
In fact, some of the most famous billionaires like Bill Gates, retire a few days from their work to spend them in some peaceful place to just not think about that project on which he is working, especially if he feels stuck. In this way, he returns after a few days with novel ideas and more relaxed. Henry Ford also did something similar. He went to the Swiss Alps, and there he stayed for 3 months, giving the order never to be disturbed, even if the biggest disaster occurred in the company. When he arrived 3 months later at his business, he carried the best ideas and strategies to grow your famous company even more.
Finally, make sure you don't replace your productive hours with activities that don't bring positive things. Instead, consider changing work hours for activities such as reading a book, going for a walk, contemplating a landscape. All these types of activities will allow you to find a new air and achieve better results, even if they take a little longer to reach a conclusion.
These have been three strategies that I have used that have helped me to acquire a greater discipline I hope they are also useful and effective for you and that you can apply them. Watch video
